Tolix Love

Furniture, Home accessories, Interiors February 27th, 2009

I have just purchased a Tolix stool in red to sit beside by womb chair as a table and I love it.  It’s shiny and industrial looking and works well with the grey wool chair.  You can get the whole range from Madder and Rouge in Newmarket, here in Auckland and they have some great colours in stock at present, including a great red table.  You can pretty much choose your colour as they have a great colour palette.  Read about the history of Tolix right here, otherwise call or go take a look at these practical pieces of furniture.  This place in Kerikeri also stocks them.

Colorwheel Quilt

DIY, Inspiration, Textiles February 27th, 2009

This is quite stunning and something I would love to get my teeth into.  I use a colour wheel when painting and when Master Four saw it, he thought I had made it and wanted to pin on his art board! The pattern is from the book Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts which you can get at Amazon, or perhaps even try the library. What’s cool, is that Purl Bee have the collection of colours required to make this quilt and it’s only NZ$25.00 for shipping to NZ or Oz.  Here’s a boy version which I thought looked just as effective.

iPhone Coaster Set – Meninos Design

Home accessories, Kitchen February 20th, 2009

For the iPhone addicts out there, here is something you may love to see on your coffee table under the drinks, the iPhone Coaster Set by Meninos Design.  You can pay by paypal, they cost about NZ$75 and with a quick email to them, they will oragnise a paypal invoice with shipping to your country…(otherwise it defaults to the US).  Secretly I want a set, but I have the iPhone and my friends would mock me mercilessly!

ECC Lighting – 75% Off Sale

Furniture, Home accessories, Lighting February 19th, 2009

ECC lighting here in Auckland currently have a 75% off sale, of all cool, hip and expensive lighting, plus their great range of furniture.  I had a look the other day and there are some great chairs going for good (better) prices. Still too exey for me though, but go have a look just in case that one chair or lamp is waiting for you that you’ve had your eye on.

Lil Mo Rug Collection – Momeni

Flooring, Kids, Textiles February 18th, 2009

I am always a sucker for rugs, any rugs really, just as long as they are in pretty colours. The flower rug would be great in our new nursery.  Momeni has a new range that will be available from April called ‘Lil Mo and come in a large range of sizes 2×3, 3×5, 4×6, 5×7 and 8×10 feet. They are really reasonably priced but alas they don’t ship overseas….yet another thing your poor relative/friend will have to lug through the airport with them if it’s a must buy for someone down-under.  Prices will start at about NZ$283 (for acrylic) to NZ$320 (for cotton).   It would be worth paying the small amount of duty on it and still be much cheaper than the designer rugs we have to pay exorbitant prices for here!

Prettying Up Your Blog – House Of Three

DIY, Inspiration, Paper, Windows + Walls February 16th, 2009

When I started my blog, Mr Bohaute could not believe the time I spent just trying to find a background, plus a header in case I chose that format, and also I had to have a favicon.  Although it ended up quite simple, I now have a little library of goodies when I feel the need for a change.  So when I saw House of Three over at the Poppytalk blog it had me wanting a change….(though it won’t be happening with bub due in 9 weeks). The three very creative girls behind House of Three have loads of pretty images and kits for scrapbooking, wall art, and online glamourising.  The few above being just a taste of what you can buy at a very reasonable price.  Enjoy your eye candy.

Adventures on Etsy – Bean Town Handmade

Adventures on Etsy, Pets February 14th, 2009

Had to show you this today.  I find the bonnet sooo cute, but can imagine the humiliation the dog is feeling….unless of course he’s about to go out in the NY snow.  Anyway, you can also get the far more useful collars that are so pretty all girl dogs should have one – she calls them neck warmers; or the jackets. Starting at about $US25 (NZ$48) they are something special for your canine, and she can make them any size, not just for Boston Terriers – (how cute is Bean).

Light Therapy DIY – Baby Quasar

DIY February 13th, 2009

At last, IPL at home…that works!  You can fix your skin at home any time with the Baby Quasar. If you don’t fancy your regular trip to the beauty salon then this is for you.  It has had great reviews and takes about 30 minutes to go over your face.  The company ships internationally and it works with our 120v power outlets. It costs about NZ$900 but it’s yours forever, so pays for itself very quickly if you know how much 10 treatments cost at a salon (about $1000).  Here’s another good review from a mother of five.

Solar Blinds – Blight

Inspiration, Lighting February 12th, 2009

Over at Inhabitat I came across these great solar blinds.  I bet if these go into production, the dude who designed these will be as rich as the paper clip guy!  It was an entry into the Greener Gadgets Design Competition, called Blight. They soak up the sunlight during the day and give it back as light at night.  I would definitely get a few sets – they may be easier to clean than my wooden ones.
