Emery et Cie

Art Beautiful Stuff, Furniture, Inspiration October 26th, 2008

This post inspired my post after spying the most amazing bed head ever!  Here is the link to browse the bedheads Emery et Cie design.   They give measurements and pricing for most of them, but only have a few stores in Europe and England.  I couldn’t make up my mind if I loved the Orieller d’Herbes, Oiseaux or Juvenile bed the most.  Aren’t they to die for!

Jade Eco Rubber Yoga Mats

Home accessories October 25th, 2008

Jade Eco Yoga Mats are available through this distributor down under.  They have a large range of colours and are made from dried natural rubber tree material, the Havea Brasiliensis – a renewable resource with a strong internal mesh.  Also it does not include the Latex component of the tree which is good news for those with allergies.  They are made in the USA and contain no PVC, EVA, TPE, heavy metals or ozone depleting substances.  When you purchase one of these mats a tree will be planted for every JadeYoga mat sold.

Placemats By Modern Twist

Kids, Kitchen October 24th, 2008

With quite a mess on the glass table by Master Four after some meals, I thought this would be a pretty cool placemat to keep some food from hitting the table.  It is made from food-safe silicone that is hand silk-screened and easy to wipe clean.  Modern Twist not only have mats for kids, but also a great selection for big people as well. Take a look right here.

Oh Yay! – Kids Vinyl Flooring

Flooring, Interiors, Kids October 23rd, 2008

What I would give to happily cover my sons bedroom in the cars version of Tarkett vinyl flooring.  Every few days I am on my knees clearing one car set, and building another, or putting that away to pull out the train set so Master Four can play again with something that he’s not bored of – and all of it is extremely painful to stand on in the middle of the night.  It’s available from Tarkett but I can’t find this particular vinyl pattern anywhere down-under, otherwise most flooring retailers sell Tarkett, so perhaps they could order it.

Lusting After A Library?

Cool Homes, Inspiration, Interiors October 22nd, 2008

The home which houses these books in Costa Rica won the Lubetkin Prize which awards outstanding work outside the EU by a Royal Institute of British Architects member.  This is just some of the 17,000 books the owner owns.  Take a look here at the rest of the home….it is a quick slideshow and I think the home feels warm but still modern with all the use of native timber.

Adventures on Etsy – Reusable Bags

Adventures on Etsy, Clothes and Bags, Inspiration October 21st, 2008

I use reusable bags almost every day for groceries, and netting bags for produce at the supermarket. Here are a few that may get your creative juices running to make your own, or give as a gift.  My favourite is the third bag along with reinforced handles.  From left to right:

Morning Glory Lunch Bag – Made By Molly – $20

Oilcloth Lunch Bag – Julie Meyer – $18

Reusable Shopping Bag - Pretty Green Bag – $20

Produce Bags – Amk Designs – set of 6 $12

Bayliss Rugs – Australia

Flooring, Home accessories October 21st, 2008

I came across these great rugs today and thought they looked stunning.  I am always on the lookout for rugs as we have wooden floors and these large prints are beautiful.  Bayliss has stockists in most states of Australia, so go take a look at their range right here.

String Storage System – So Stylish

Furniture, Home accessories, Windows + Walls October 20th, 2008

I love the simple, clean lines of this storage system.  It is from Great Dane Furniture who have showrooms in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.  They stock a great range of scandinavian designed pieces that you will have for years to come.  The String Storage System starts at AU$725.

Marimekko Fabric At Deka Brisbane

DIY, Inspiration, Interiors, Kids, Textiles October 19th, 2008

If you are after some hip Marimekko fabric and can’t seem to find it down under, you will find it’s available at Deka in Brisbane, from $82 per metre.  They can custom make wallhangings, window coverings, cushions and other soft furnishings using the Marimekko fabrics.  The panda would make a great wall hanging in a kids room.

Poggenpohl Dining Desk

Home accessories, Kitchen October 18th, 2008

This looks so clever, handy and gorgeous that I had to show you all.  After a little homework however, I found the price tag – a whopping US$47,000 for the marble version (it was my fave), or a mere US$7000 for the wood veneer.  It’s called the Dining Desk and everything you need is tucked away in the centre of the table. There is a utensil compartment, ice box area, drinks tray and also a grill!  What a pity it’s a totally ridiculous price….it would definitely have made it home otherwise.

Mobiles By Little Gypsies

Home accessories, Inspiration, Kids October 17th, 2008

If you need an update for your childrens room, then how about an indian printed hanging mobile of birds or elephants.  Each traditionally crafted piece from Little Gypsies is chosen for ethical, charitable and collectable ideals.  AU$19.95 for the birds or AU$17.95 for the elephants.

Barchitecture – Cool Kennels For Dogs

Outdoors, Pets October 16th, 2008

These are cool.  Anna Keen of Barchitecture couldn’t find a hip enough house for her pooch so decided to design and manufacture her own range.  Each house is handmade locally in Sydney using sustainable plywood, and with optional soft furnishings and even wallpaper, the dogs who get these are pretty lucky! Priced from AU$795…ouch.

Gypsy Caravans – Back Yard Beauties

DIY, Inspiration, Outdoors October 15th, 2008

Tiny little rooms on wheels that hold all the magical power of a fairytale.  Apparently, you can stay in Gypsy Caravans all over France or just make them a garden accessory like this one from the blog Dans Ma Roulotte, which shows us the redecoration of this classic wooden caravan.  Couldn’t resist showing it to you…imagine sitting in it with friends having your late avo drinks and hors d’oeurves.

Dinnerware By Amy Butler

Home accessories, Kitchen October 14th, 2008

Amy Butler has designed a dinnerware range called Vintage Botanica that reminds me of tea and cake at Grandma’s.  You can choose from a 5-piece place setting or just select pieces separately to add to your collection.  You can purchase them through her website here.

Cool Cat Litter Boxes

Home accessories, Pets October 11th, 2008

We have a cat but she’s all trained up and allowed to come and go outside, but for those who have indoor cats or little kitties needing to be trained, here are a few cat litter boxes that ‘hide’ more than hurt your decor. My favourite is definitely the first image.  Left to right all in US$.

 Cat Litter Hider/Bed Combo – $249.95

Litter Box Planter – $69.95

Kitty Washroom – $99.95

Cat Cave - $498.00

Fifi Range By Fiona Howard

Home accessories, Kitchen, Textiles October 9th, 2008

Isn’t this range called Fifi from Fiona Howard earthy and pretty.  I would love  a set of mugs and matching trays.  You can buy them from her online shop but it looks like she ships only within the UK.  The homeware takes its cues from coastal living and nature.  To purchase her mugs, trays, fabrics, tea towels and bags click here.
