This had me smiling when I saw the pretty fabric.  Ellen over at The Long Thread made them for her daughters as treat bags for trick-or-treating, though they are pretty enough to have just as a handbag. Take a look at her tutorial for great instructions and pictures.  It may even be a fun project for yourself and your own daughter/s.
