While browsing Dwell I found this cool place; the Tattoo House designed by Andrew Maynard Architects in Melbourne, Australia.  What an awesome idea for shade when you have that much glass in your house.  We use to live in Melbourne and on the summer days the wind would blow off the desert, it got very hot in our house and we had to pull the blinds.  This still lets in all the light I have an obsession about, plus gives the upstairs some privacy from the street – see the slideshow to glimpse the incredible home and the creation of the tattoo.  Sure it needs some softening with some colourful furnishings but the red and white combination make for a striking neighbour amongst what is mostly far more subtle brick.
