Mary Claire Smith is my favourite illustrator EVER!  I purchased her cards she had designed for Roger la Borde as my wedding invitations and ceremony booklets way back in 1999.  The store in Sydney where I purchased them only had five of each card design, so I bought a mixture of 60 – 40 for invitations and 20 for the ceremony booklets (she had two left; good thing it was a small wedding).  Then I selected some lightly embossed paper, printed my own invitations and booklets, and secured the paper in place with a ribbon.  I thought they were the most pretty collection of cards in peoples hands when I came down the garden path.  So today I discovered her website and a few others just so you too could fall in love with, browse and buy, her illustrated collection of cards and stationery, childrens books and even tins.  Enjoy.

[...] Wow, I came across these while my nearly four was having a ride on Thomas the Tank Engine outside the store.  Another artist whose illustrations of long, lanky people in swirls of lovely colour make me oooo and aaaah.  Not only does Crispin Korschen do larger paintings, but now her pieces are printed onto pint size blocks that we can all afford for a wall or dresser.  Her smaller pieces or ‘art blocks’ are available to purchase through Barking Mad online, and through shops in New Zealand, London and Sydney – for stockists click here.  To share her delightful illustrations, what better way than with her cards.  To view the larger paintings in person, they are in selected galleries throughout New Zealand.   These remind me a little of my favourite illustrator I wrote about in an earlier post.
